Kate Upton stars in Lady Antebellum‘s new video for “Bartender,” a song about a woman heading out with girlfriends for a crazy night of drinking after a guy has done her wrong.

In the Shane C. Drake-directed music video for the song, model and actress Upton plays the lead character, while Tony Hale (Arrested Development, VEEP) plays the part of the shot-slinging bartender who has plenty of tricks (and drinks) up his sleeve to make the drink requests all the more entertaining.

Eventually, Hale’s bartender character meets his match in Upton, who downs every drink he slings with ease.

In an interview with, Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott opened up about the track, which the band wrote with Rodney Clawson.

“It was the first time he’d come out on the road to write with us,” Scott said of Nashville songwriting vet Clawson. “And it was really one of the last songs we wrote for this [new] record that we’ve been writing for and recording over the past few months. Dave [Haywood] had started the guitar track, and then we started writing the lyrics.”

Scott continued, saying that “as a woman…what I’m most proud of about this song from the lyrical standpoint is, this girl is heartbroken and she knows she needs to figure out how to heal her heart and move on. But she’s not going to drown in her tears. She’s still going to go have fun with her friends, and experience life, and make a new memory, trying to move on from her relationship. And I love that. You’re taking your heartbreak by the horns and just saying, ‘You know what, it was a part of my life, but let’s move on.'”

“Bartender” is the first single from Lady Antebellum’s upcoming new album that will follow 2013’s Golden. No release date has been set, but it is expected to drop later this year.
